How Many is Too Many?

They just see things differently in Ireland than we do in the United States. I was on a recent trip and was getting off the train in Dublin and needed to get to a different train station. In general you can do that on an electric train called the LUAS that is  fast and efficient( and always fun to take) But the Luas was out of service right then so everyone getting off the train was funneled onto a city bus. It's just a longer trek because of the stops. But it was like watching clowns climb into one of those clown cars. It was a double-decker bus and I was sure it was already full. But the train station attendant ensured me there'd be rom, "Just get in line," He said. So I did.

By the time I got on the driver was no longer checking passes or selling tickets he was just waving people to move back and go up the stairs. It was nuts. Three more people got in after I did and we took off and stopped at yet another bus stop blocks away, not to let people off but to get in another 4 or 5 waiting. And we all squeezed in.

Of course it was only a mile or so before people started getting off. But there are just no rules on some things here. It's the same way on the trains. If you buy a ticket they will get you on. You may not get a seat until opens up but you'll get on if you need to.

I found is so odd at first. I mean regulations in the United States would never allow such a thing. But here people are more practical than regulated. If you don't want to stand, don't get on. But if you need to get across town,  you almost always can.
