They Call it Galway Rain

I'd woken up late and dashed to get to my first class. I showered, dried my hair threw on a skirt and boots, grabbed my backpack and threw the door to this wee house open...to a cloud. It was the oddest thing. It wasn't raining, it was barely misting. It was like walking in a cloud.

It wasn't quite as thick as fog but cars had their lights on when I rounded the block heading for campus. And it wasn't really cold either. It was ... puffy...if the air can even be puffy.

It was just 14 degrees Celsius (which is about 58 degrees Fahrenheit)  and 97% humidity, which is something I doubt Nevada has ever even seen. There was no use using an umbrella, because the moisture was just hanging in the air. It was beautiful!

As I hit the classroom and remarked on the weather outside, I was informed that it was pretty common in the winter and that local referred to it as Galway Rain.

"It's beautiful!" I said.

"That's not how most people view it really, but you'll get used to it," was the reply.

I was inside for hours and when I headed home this afternoon it was only about 4:30. But it was still misty, foggy-ish, and so cool looking. Again theheadlights were on, and looked fuzzy in the distance. I tried to get pictures but it just didn't transfer to what it really looked like.

I guess if you want to really experience Galway Rain, you might want to come and visit!
