Way Better than Dandelions!
When I walk to school in the mornings it's often through what I consider a small magical wood (a block filled with trees) across a big field and through a small tunnel (which is really an underpass for the freeway, but to me it's a fantastically small tunnel) And this passed week, the field was filled with what I first though must be Dandelions, because spring certainly means Dandelions in Reno. In fact, the passed few springs have made me sad because it looked like those Dandelions were surely chocking out the grass I had in the yard. And I never get to them before they emerge.
I really seem to think about it for months before they sprout and yet space it out those last few weeks until the yellow flowers push their way into my yard with a vengeance.
So as I looked out over the field this passed week I saw the white tops among the grass blades. And when I looked closer I was shocked to see …they were daisies.
I have seen a few dandelions here but not many. And it seems that tiny clovers and dainty daisies are far more common everywhere you look in the spring. I don’t know how to change that around in my own yard in Reno, by you can bet I am going to try.
