Got your attention…didn’t I? But The Galway Hookers are real stars in the west of Ireland.

The boats on the bay are traditional fishing boats with reddish-brown sails. You can recognize them immediately. They were a fleet of workhorses integral to the success of the fisheries here for decades.

Now they are the focus of The Galway Hooker Boat Project, bringing them back to the bay, one at a time.

And then there’s the beer. The name Galway Hooker is so iconic here it’s on everything from athletic team jerseys to books, bars and beer. Meet the man who makes the beer.
