Fungie the Dingle Dolphin is a Bottlenose Dolphin who discovered the Dingle Harbor more than 30 years ago and just decided to stay there. He’s so dependable as an attraction in the bay that an entire industry has been built around him. Boats filled with tourists head out almost every day, and almost every day Fungie apopears to jump and twirl for the cameras, and to relish in the oos and ahs from those watching.

And if you are willing to brave the elements, he’ll swim with you. Abi Dillon owns the Sea Glass Studio in Dingle. She says he was one of the big reasons she moved to Dingle 15 years ago. And she swims with him all the time.

“I was out on a boat to see him this morning,” she tells me as she works on sea glass jewelry in her studio. And then she shows me pictures of her adventures with him.

Abi keeps Fungie close, even when she’s working.
