Ep 38: The Rose of Tralee
Every year hundreds of beautiful girls from across Ireland and around the world compete for the title of the Rose of Tralee. Hear the song that started it all, and how the Irish view the competition, not as a beauty pageant but as a search for the right ambassador for Ireland for a year at a time.
The talent competition ranges from weightlifting to performing dogs and from singing to putting across the stage with golf clubs.
The competition began in Tralee, and soon spread to all of County Kerry. It expanded across Ireland and now includes any woman of Irish descent and sees entries from the U.S. Canada and all across Europe.
