Bruce MacGregor has long been admired for his music. He’s an award-winning fiddler and a member of the group Blazin’ Fiddles. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg of his dedication to Scottish Heritage. He promotes all things Scottish…and that includes whiskey! So he offers whiskey tasting accompanied by music and storytelling.

“Music was always a part of the plan of having a place like this”, MacGregor says. “But we support Scottish beer, and spirits and food and music.” In fact he says everything there, except the wine, is authentic. And his tours through Scottish Whiskey over the years are an evening of adventure, he punctuates with music and stories.

Scotland’s connection with whiskey is a long and storied history. Different laws and different approaches to its distilling and sales not to mention the nuances of each blend.

And if you book one of his whiskey tours, you get it all. His music, his storytelling, his take on Scottish History and his whiskey. You can hear his music and his stories as well as his take on the whiskeys in this episode of Erin’s Isle.

While Irish pubs have popped up all over the world, Scottish bars are few and far between. And he and his wife Jo De Sylva are working to change that. Of course the original is in Inverness, at the north of the Highlands. They have hopes of spreading Scottish culture as they grow. But quality will always take precedent over quantity. For now…don’t miss the fun in Inverness.
