A Student Bar on Campus? Whaaaaaat?
It's clearly been a long time since I've been in college as a student. And it's no surprise that most of the students here are the age of my own children. I even came here resolved tht I'd be the oldest student in my studies, but confident I'd be able to dazzle the rest with experience when given the chance. Waiting on delays on things like opening a bank account here and for a chance to meet my classmates has been lonely. But a walk today just to ensure I know exactly where to be for orientation tomorrow led me to quite a discovery. Student unions have changed...a lot!
The one here is in a sleek modern building that houses student services and auditoriums. And it's attached to a beautiful old stone building that's been remodeled from a woolen mill to a distillery and now to campus bar. That's right, my cool, cool school just got even cooler with a student bar!
Times really have changed from my days at the University of Washington where we hung out at the Hub, because it never ran out of coffee. Now I realize you can't down as much ta the bar as we used to of the coffee back then, but at my age I'd have to call this an improvement.
