Game of Threads

Even if you aren't an expert on the Game of Thrones, the 250 foot tapestry depicting scenes from the HBO show on display at the Ulster Museum in Belfast is amazing to see. It was created in the style of Bayeaux Tapestry, one scene at a time, by embroiderers and weavers ranging in age from 20 to 82.

Tourism Ireland was behind it's creation showing a scene for each episode of the six seasons of the Game of Thrones. It was all woven by hand looms with locally sourced linen in Northern Ireland which has a rich history of textiles and linens. It has 250-thousand threads placed by hand embroidering over the fabric woven on traditional looms.

It's 66 meters (250 feet) now, and it's still growing. A new panel is being added each weak of season 7. And the medieval wall hanging will be at least 77 meters when the series concludes.
