Twice the Star Power for one Incredible Meal!
Every meal is amazing at Ballyfin. After all, resident Chef Sam Moody is a Michel Star Chef. He works from a kitchen garden that he visits daily and he loves what he does.
"I came here as a guest, and to meet the team and I knew within about ten minutes that this was where I wanted to be," he says. And when the idea of inviting in a guest chef to share the kitchen at Ballyfin for a special celebration he knew just who to call.
Chef Patrick O'Connell is a Michelin Star Chef as well. He's owned a luxury hotel in Virginia for decades. The Inn at Little Washington is celebrating it's 40th year. The two teamed up recently for a collaboration that celebrated the Inn at Little Washington and O'Connell's own Irish heritage with a special dinner at Ballyfin.
"It's a bit of a homecoming for me,"O'Connell says. "I've been to Ballyfin before but to be asked to cook here is quite an honor. To collaborate on a meal that incorporates both restaurants will be fun."
The two chefs come from different backgrounds but they share a passion and a dedication to their craft. And that produced quite a celebratory meal. It included lobster Napoleons in minted fresh pea soup, farm fresh cheeses and chopped lamb tarts.
It's the first time for such a collaboration at Ballyfin but it won't be the last. Up next though, a similar collaboration with Chef Moody traveling to Virginia where the roles will be reversed but I know the quality will be just as grand.
